J&E's innovative tools and technology, such as integrating Cobots and operator capabilities, help our customers create real world solutions.As a 2nd Shift Supervisor, you will be responsible for supervising direct labor and production operations and quality inspections for CNC machinery, laser turrets, press brake, welding, and grinding including prioritizing production schedules, and delegating work assignments to ensure workforce optimization, and minimal machine downtime.You will be working 4 10-hour days Monday - Thursday from 3:00 PM - 1:30 AM onsite at the Plymouth facility. Ability to work alternative hours such as Fridays, weekends or holidays to ensure production needs are met, if necessary.J&E Companies leverages a diverse range of personal and professional backgrounds to foster creativity and unique problem-solving skills, process improvements, and accelerating tools to drive us forward. For success in this role, we are looking for a few essential experiences and abilities: Lead, motivate, and direct employees using performance measurables, provide recognition and feedback, training, and take corrective action if necessary. Read and interpret documents such as blueprints, production operating instructions, safety rules, and procedure manuals. Create and manage production reports and other documentation. Create and implement standard processes and procedures through the 2nd shift team. Demonstrate a continuous improvement mindset and empower the 2nd shift team in these efforts. Manage communication with 1st and shift managers to ensure production priorities and performance information is exchanged. Qualifications and Skills: High school Diploma or GED, or the equivalent amount of training and hands-on experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the position. 2 years of experience leading, mentoring, and developing direct reports in manufacturing environment, preferably in metal machining. Demonstrated ability to conduct quality inspection and read blueprints. Ability to lead a team of operators running the following machines: CNC Machinery, lathe, mill, Swiss, press brake, laser, turret, welding, and grinding. Keen attention to detail with the ability to handle multiple priorities and people simultaneously. Work Environment, Physical, and Mental Demands: Incumbents in this role will primarily perform their work in a production warehouse environment and interact with team members throughout the facility in both office and production warehouse environments.You will work with and around a variety of industrial warehouse equipment and vehicles, such as forklifts and robotic arms, in an environment that includes exposure to loud noise levels, vibration, chemicals, dust, fumes, mechanical hazards, bright lights, and hot or cold temperatures. While performing the duties of this position, incumbents are required to do all of some of the following, with or without accommodation: Attend to machinery (workstation) for long periods, up to an entire shift, managing the controls of the equipment in a safe and effective manner. Use computer keyboard, mobile device, desktop computer, laptop, calculator, telephone, walkie-talkie, copy machine, and other production warehouse tools or controls. Mentally focus on tasks and apply sound reasoning and judgment. Review documents, monitors, or displays with potentially small print. Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, face shields, hard hats, masks, gloves, or other PPE required to operate equipment safely and effectively. Move through the production warehouse facility on potentially uneven or slippery surface. Respond to safety control noises or alarms such as fire alarm, forklift horns, and machinery alerts. Reach under, over, above, or around machinery or other objects such as bending, stooping, kneeling, reaching, and climbing to perform work. Lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 50 pounds and heavier weights with the proper equipment.
