St. Anne's-Belfield School seeks a full-time Humanities teacher and advisor to join a highly collaborative department. In Grade 9, English and History are taught in separate classes, and the teaching team coordinates how our writing curriculum spirals through the courses. In Grades 10 and 11, AP Human Geography and American Studies classes are taught in a dual-credit class that provides an English credit and a history credit. Team teaching may be employed. In Grade 12, English is taught separately from history. Full-time classroom teaching experience, strong organizational and classroom management skills, a collaborative spirit, and the ability to joyfully teach adolescents are required. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching high school-aged students in a standards-based learning environment (SBL) and hold a master's degree in English, History, or a related field. As an independent school, we value community and expect that the selected candidate will serve as a coach, and/or lead extracurricular programming beyond the classroom. For this position, the extracurricular assignment will be Upper School DEIB Coordinator. Upper School Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Coordinator A member of the teaching faculty, the Upper School DEIB Coordinator works collaboratively with the Upper School leadership team, the team of divisional DEIB coordinators, and faculty, to design, develop, deliver, and sustain proactive student support systems and programs that engage students and families and deliver on the School's mission of inclusive excellence. In addition to shaping student programming (assemblies, lunch gatherings, optional mini-lessons) and faculty learning opportunities, this role will support and collaborate with the faculty sponsors of various affinity groups like GSA, BSU and Asian Culture Club.
