Youth and Young Adult Minister Job Summary: Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church is looking for a full-time Youth and Young Adult Minister to join our parish staff family. The Youth and Young Adult Minister should be an intentional disciple of Jesus Christ, who furthers the mission of our parish by creating and implementing programs to empower young people to live as disciples of Christ in our world today, to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and work for the Catholic community, and to foster the spiritual growth of each young person. Work Schedule: This is a twelve-month, full-time position. It can be expected that this position will work a combination of hours in the office as well as having a flexible schedule with evening and weekend hours to meet and support the needs of the parish. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED and 6-12 months experience or the equivalent in a relevant ministry Excellent time management skills with flexibility and adaptability when changes are necessary Team player who can collaborate with the parish staff and volunteers Relates to youth and young adults and comfortable speaking in front of them Highly effective in communicating with individuals in person and through phone calls and email Strong character with high moral and ethical values Preference given to those who follow the tenants of the Catholic faith with a background in Theology/Ministry Primary Duties & Responsibilities: A. Schedule, plan and execute meetings for high school students (grades 8-12) during the school year working around personal, Church and holiday schedules to meet the purpose stated above.B. Collaborate with the Confirmation Coordinator and shadow the Fall program to be prepared to assume the coordination of the Immediate Preparation Program for Confirmation for the next year.C. Act as a liaison between the young adult volunteer coordinator and the parish to plan, promote and implement Young Adult formation, activities, and service in our parish. Collaborate with Echo Community in their Young Adult Outreach.D. Provide Adoration and Confession opportunities for these age groups by scheduling/coordinating with priests.E. Provide outreach to public, private, and Catholic schools, effectively promoting unity within our faith community to grow the youth ministry program.F. Ensure promotion of all events via website, social media, Flocknote, bulletin and announcements working in collaboration with the Communications Coordinator.G. Provide support and be a regular presence at Teen FIRE and any parish program where teens are involved. Assist with planning and implementation of Teen FIRE Nights on a monthly basis.H. Form and cultivate a core team of volunteers to assist in every aspect of youth and young adult ministry.I. Be available to teens for mentoring and guidance.J. Coordinate youth events and mission trips (includes processing all necessary paperwork and fees associated with them; making sure to have required number of chaperones per participant) Ex: World Youth Day, March for Life (January)- either in DC or Baton Rouge, Exalt Fest.K. Coordinate opportunities for youth involvement within parish ministries and service.L. In conjunction with the DRE, develop and maintain a budget with projected fundraising events to support the ministry.M. Stay connected with the Archdiocesan CYO office and participate in offerings of workshops/webinars that will help in execution of Youth and Young Adult Minister position.N. Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Pastor or Parish Manager. Compensation: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; comprehensive benefits package provided.
