Compliance Technician Revision Date: 08/23/2021 Department: Tribal Council Employment Status: Full Time Program: Quality/Compliance/Privacy FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Compliance and Privacy Manager Schedule: 40 hours/52 weeks Supervises: N/A Preference: TERO Ordinance 2017-01, P.L. 93-638 Job Summary The Compliance Technician is responsible for supporting Tribal compliance with mandated audits, as well as with employee and un'ina (customer) satisfaction surveys. In addition, the Compliance Technician shall be responsible for ensuring that un'ina and staff are familiar with the complaint, compliment, suggestions and/or grievance process. Reports shall be established and set to run on a monthly basis. These reports will be shared with the Health Board and the Tribal Council to determine areas within the Tribe that could benefit from process improvement activities necessary to achieve and/or maintain applicable Federal, State and Municipal regulation and accreditation standards. Essential Functions Utilizes responses from surveys, complaints, and suggestions to provide a data focused framework for implementing change in alignment with Kenaitze Indian Tribe's Mission, Vision, and Values. Assists un'ina regarding their experience with Tribal services as needed or coordinates with specific department to conduct surveys Incorporates feedback from un'ina, concerning the Quality Assurance (QA) program Reviews un'ina feedback including relevant records/clinical visits using quality assurance criteria and procedures to analyze and provide improvement opportunities for department leaders. Participates in Accreditation Teams and carries out associated annual plan work Reports and educates clinics/programs regarding changes in standards and/or performance below standards Communicates obstacles to the Compliance & Privacy Manager in a timely manner Seeks out additional learning opportunities to continue developing the technical and professional skills needed Ensures compliance with Tribal, federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, Tribal policies, and TERO ordinance It is the intent of this job description to highlight the essential functions of the position; however, it is not an all-inclusive list. Working Conditions Lifting Requirements Sedentary work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met. Physical Requirements Stand or Sit (Stationary position) Walk (Move, Traverse) Use hands/fingers to handle or feel (Operate, Activate, Use, Prepare, Inspect, Place, Detect, Position) Climb (stairs/ladders) or balance (Ascend/Descend, Work atop, Traverse) Stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl (Position self (to), Move) Talk/hear (Communicate, Detect, Converse with, Discern, Convey, Express oneself, Exchange information) See (Detect, Determine, Perceive, Identify, Recognize, Judge, Observe, Inspect, Estimate, Assess) Taste/Smell (Detect, Distinguish, Determine) Pushing or Pulling Repetitive Motion OSHA Categories Category III - Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid Travel Local In-State Out-of-State Qualifications Education Associate's Degree in a Healthcare or Business related field, or a combination of education and experience may be substituted for a degree Experience One (1) year of clerical experience in healthcare Two (2) years of experience in quality assurance or quality improvement focused on compliance practices, surveys and the use of Survey Monkey, complaints, and grievance processes Preferred Knowledge and experience working with cultural diversities License/Certification Must have a valid Alaska State Driver's License and remain insurable under the Tribe's policy Special Skills Proven ability to work on several projects simultaneously and under tight schedules Strong oral and written communications skills Strong facilitation skills Experience with standard business documents (e.g. contract language, grants) Knowledge of Medicaid and National healthcare compliance regulations and practices Knowledge of healthcare compliance and quality assurance practices and principles Knowledge of data collection and interpretations Conducts business in a service-oriented manner that is attentive, pleasant, respectful and kind when dealing with un'ina, visitors, co-workers and others Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively Proficiency with Microsoft Suite, or obtain within 90 days Job Posted by ApplicantPro
