JOB SUMMARY The Yard Vehicle Operator is responsible for placing trailers in and out of the warehouse dock to and from the company yards. The position must also maintain the vehicle in good working condition with daily inspections and services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS, AND RESPONSIBILITIES Drive yard vehicles to place trailers to and from the dock and company yards. Perform yard vehicle inspections. Ensure that the vehicles stay up to date on preventative maintenance. Maintain control of the dock control while performing duties. Adhere to safety rules and regulations at the company yard. Maintain overall yard operations to ensure work is being completed correctly. Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies for the company. Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality. Comply with company policies and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION AND RELATED EXPERIENCE A high school diploma or equivalent GED is required. Prior yard vehicle driving experience of a minimum of one (1) year is required. A valid CDL license and the ability to be covered under the company insurance policy is required. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Knowledge and ability to drive Yard Vehicles. The ability to work under stressful conditions. Skilled in critical thinking using logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of solutions, alternatives, conclusion, or approaches to problems. Excellent problem-solving skills. Skilled in oral and written communication. Skilled in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times. Skilled in communicating effectively with co-workers, management, and customers. The ability to maintain excellent organization. The ability to organize, prioritize, and manage daily activities to ensure timely and accurate results. The ability to provide information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH OTHERS This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The Yard Vehicle Operator will be expected to frequently interact with co-workers, customers, suppliers, and vendors. WHY JOIN OUR TEAM?
