PSL350 – Course Director Course number and title : PSL350H1S Mammalian Molecular Biology Course description : Extend molecular biology concepts to current scientific literature in mammalian physiology. Apply these principles to disease and complex behaviours. Discuss bioethical issues raised by these techniques and their application. Benefit from three weeks in small group seminars lead by research professors focusing on current advances in mammalian molecular biology. Estimated course enrolment : 140 Estimated TA support : 3-5 Class schedule : During the scheduled Arts and Science winter term, with classes Tuesdays 10-12 a. m. and Thursdays 3 - 5 pm. Sessional dates of appointment : January to April 2024 Salary : $2,500 for coordinating + 851.21 for teaching (inclusive of vacation pay) Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail. Minimum qualifications : Ph D in physiology or related discipline and prior experience in molecular physiology and pathophysiology research. Preferred qualifications : Prior experience in molecular physiology and pathophysiology teaching, as well as in facilitating active learning. Description of duties: Update course syllabus, arrange 8 lecture and 8 practicum sessions (i. e. contact lecturers and schedule), contact special topics leaders and ensure that rooms are booked for each special topics group, ensure that rooms are booked for the term tests. Term Tests will be in person unless health guidelines require them to be online, organize term tests (solicit test questions, ensure clarity, compile them into the test and submit for printing), release assignment / test scores to students through Quercus when all marking is complete. ensure digital content (e. g. lecture recordings, presentation slides) is uploaded and available through Quercus, calculate and submit the final marks, ensure.
